Anthony Norton MA, FHEA, GTCL(Hons), LTCL, CertCME

Anthony is a singer, music educator and conductor, specialising in voice, community choirs and performance practice. He studied singing, piano and conducting at Trinity College of Music, London before embarking on a career as an opera singer. He holds a Masters in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, holds and honours degree in Music and a licentiate diploma in vocal tuition (both from Trinity College of Music) and is certified in choral music education by Choral Music Education, Chicago.

He began his career with The Scottish Opera before moving to Teatro La Scala Di Milano, where he was resident for a number of years. His work as a soloist in opera, concert, oratorio and musical theatre has seen him perform in venues from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden to Carnegie Hall and Broadway.

At home in Ireland he has performed with every major orchestra and ensemble, including RTE Symphony

and Concert Orchestras, Opera Ireland, Wexford Festival Opera and numerous concert appearances with some of Ireland's leading chamber musicians. As a solo artist and as one of the internationally acclaimed Three Irish Tenors he has toured America, Canada, Europe and as far afield as India, Taiwan, Japan and the Caribbean. Further to the operatic and classical repertoires he sings with the cabaret ensemble, Passion.

Having studied both Orchestral and Choral conducting with James Gaddarn, Bernard Keefe and choral music education with Doreen Rao of CME Chicago, Anthony has directed and conducted concerts and theatre with orchestras, ensembles and choirs throughout his career. Current community and choral projects include the Wicklow Male Voice Choir, Cheile Community Choir, Nás na Rí Singers and vocal coach to the National Symphony Chorus of Ireland. Future projects include public workshops on Mindfulness and Singing in a joint presentation with the National Concert Hall of Ireland and a series of vocal workshops throughout the Island of Ireland presented by his own company; The Norton Voice Studio.

Anthony has gained notable recognition as a singing teacher and workshop facilitator; as well as teaching at his private practice, he has held positions with Music Generation Ireland and as a visiting lecturer in performance arts education at The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, an associate lecturer in the faculty of performing arts at Edgehill University, the faculty of voice at The Arden Theatre School and regularly facilitates masterclasses and workshops at numerous institutions of third level education in both Ireland and the UK. Anthony is currently teaching on the faculty of singing at the American College Dublin in the BA Hons in Musical Theatre.

He is currently researching and developing the integration of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Third Wave Therapeutic Techniques and pedagogical

and performing practice to alleviate the presentation of Music Performance Anxiety; he holds an MA in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy from the Irish College of Humanities and Sciences.
